Bible Baptist Church, Stanwood is a product of a vision of Pastor Gary Prisk (former pastor of Bible Baptist Church, Oak Harbor) in 1997. By the leading of the Holy Spirit, Bible Baptist Church, Oak Harbor sought to plant another church in the Pacific Northwest. (Fellowship Baptist Church Arlington, Washington was previously started in 1987.)
In September of 1997, Pastor Prisk and Bro. Steve Casteel surveyed Stanwood and after prayer and research, the Lord’s will was discerned and plans were made to start a church. In late October of 1997, Pastor Geoff Miller of Bible Baptist Church, Mt. Vernon (now Harvest Baptist Church,) informed Pastor Prisk that the Stillaguamish Grange Hall was available for rent on Sundays. The building was quickly secured and plans set in motion for the inaugural service of the “Stanwood Baptist Outreach” to be held on January 4th, 1998.
Two consecutive weekends prior to the inaugural service, the saints from Bible Baptist Church, Oak Harbor, Bible Baptist Church, Mt. Vernon, and Fellowship Baptist Church, Arlington joined efforts to hand out hundreds of fliers all over the Stanwood/Camano area. The inaugural service saw 26 people in attendance including 10 visitors from the community.
On January 8, 2006 the “mission” church was organized, and Bro. Steve Casteel ordained as its first pastor by unanimous vote of the newly organized church body. The total membership was recorded at 21 members.
